A Week in the Life of KUFC #24

23/07/2024

This week, the teams within our age groups got up to the following:

Soccer School:

We had a fantastic turnout for the Saturday morning soccer school sessions at Kinloss. The younger children looked at ball mastery and their reactions (transition) from attack to defence whilst the older age group focused on scanning (awareness) and how to support their team mate (triangles).

Wildcats/Squad Girls:

There were a whopping, record breaking total of 40 girls that came along to Kinloss on Wednesday night. Fifteen of those were the newly formed “Kingswood Cubs” and it’s amazing that so many four/five year olds are taking up football. The individual trophy recipients on the night were Layla E, Penny, Sophia, Indi and Mia.

U7:

The Piranhas played a friendly match on Friday and it was a great runout for the boys with Sonny receiving the MOTM award. They were also in action on Sunday against a newly formed Barham team. Once again, they all showed fantastic effort and worked hard all over the pitch. Hudson and Henley were both named as the MOTM.

U8:

During the week, our Lionesses had a wonderful training session. Everyone worked very hard and Daisy took home the trainer of the week award. On Saturday, they participated in the Springhead tournament. The girls produced some outstanding football which took them all the way to the final and they can be absolutely proud of their achievement. Lucy and Hollie both picked up player of the tournament awards.

Meanwhile, the Hawks headed to the Leeds Gala tournament and enjoyed a tremendous runout. The boys came away as trophy winners and secured their second tournament win of the summer with some terrific football played by everyone.

U9:

During midweek, our Leopards had a very good training session as the boys continued to work hard ahead of the upcoming season. Charlie took home the trainer of the week award. They then hosted their presentation ceremony at the Tigers Trust Arena on Saturday. Everyone had a brilliant time with the celebrations including a football match, playing with Roary and the end of season awards. Well done to all the trophy winners.

U10:

On Sunday, the Panthers participated in the Flamingo Land tournament. They had a excellent experience in which they played outstanding football and emerged as Corus Cup winners. Following this, the boys enjoyed a fun afternoon in the theme park itself.

Our Arrows played a pre-season friendly against Hessle Rangers Juniors on Sunday. The boys did themselves proud with a very good performance in what was their first ever 9v9 game.

As well as this, the Kings experienced the first taste of 9v9 football. The entire team played exceptionally well and they’re looking forward to the upcoming season. Jack, Blessing, Max and Henry all received MOTM trophies.

U12:

On Wednesday night, the Sharks traveled to Sproatley and played an 11v11 friendly. The team exhibited a fantastic performance and got themselves some excellent preparation for the new season. They then locked horns with Hessle Sporting Club Hulks at Kingswood Academy on Sunday. The boys put in a brilliant display against a very good side and got more valuable minutes under their belts.

The following night, our Hornets experienced their first friendly in the new 11v11 format as they faced Cottingham Rangers. It was a great experience for the boys and they all put in a big shift.

The Sapphires were at the South Cliff beach tournament on Saturday. It was an outstanding day and a different experience for the girls which they all really enjoyed.

U13:

In midweek, our Emeralds had a training session which saw them focus on close ball control and the session ended with a fun 5v5 game. Halle picked up the trainer of the week award. On Saturday, they had a training match against the Ambers. It was an energetic session for everyone with some top football on show and Rosie was named as the trainer of the week.

Ladies:

Kingswood United Ladies hosted Brandesburton Ladies in a pre-season friendly on Sunday. The sides played out a 2-2 draw as Charlotte Edmondson and Mel Walsh both got their names on the scoresheet. The POTM trophy was awarded to Holly Richardson.
